Some current news in European and transatlantic affairs, briefly presented and commented on.
• On February 14, the European Parliament (EP) adopted his final report on the CIA’s secret activities in Europe.
• In January-February, German and Italian judges launched arrest warrants (Germany), or even charges (Italy) against agents of the CIA.
• Mid-January, Romano Prodi’s green light to the extension of the US base of Vicenza came as a prelude to the governing majority’s troubles.
• A symposium of the European Defence Agency (EDA), at the beginning of February, looked into the, questions linked to the defence industrial and technological base.
• At the end of February, Denmark was the last of the 8 "international partners" of the US to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on their participation in the production phase of the F-35 Lightning II (JSF).
• The president of the EU’s military committee, General Henri Bentégeat briefly outlined, mid-January, the major tasks awaiting European Defence in 2007.
