Some current news in European and transatlantic affairs, briefly presented and commented on.
• On 30 April took place the annual EU-USA summit, preceded 5 days before by a Resolution of the European Parliament on transatlantic relations.
• An umpteenth edition of the project “transatlantic market without boundaries” was launched, with the setting-up of the Transatlantic Economic Council.
• At the end of May, US president Bush revealed his own strategy as regards global warming.
• 12 out of the 27 EU countries still remain always excluded from Visa Waiver Program of the United States, where controversial modifications are in a preparatory phase.
• US Democrats in the Congress voted, essentially, the budget for the anti-missile shield, while negotiations are intensifying with Warsaw.
• At the end of June, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted the second Marty report on the activities of the CIA in Europe.
• In June, the House of Representatives of the US Congress was dealing, at two successive hearings, with the issue the transatlantic relations.
• In Afghanistan, the strategy implemented is increasingly the object of internal criticisms within NATO, due the multiplication of the "collateral" damages.
• A Resolution on the European Space Policy was adopted by the Space Council on 22 May.
